Before Donkey Kong's return, the evil clan of Kremlings, led by King K. Rool, devised a plan to defeat the Kong family by hiding golden bananas across the island and spreading chaos.
Donkey Kong arrives on the island to find his friends kidnapped by King K. Rool. He sets off on a mission to rescue Diddy, Lanky, Tiny, and Chunky Kong from captivity.
King K. Rool uses his new powerful blast to lock down the various parts of DK Isle, placing colored locks on levels and sealing off progression.
The Kongs discover and repair the Blast-O-Matic device that King K. Rool used to lock the island, enabling them to defeat his minions and progress further.
With King K. Rool defeated and the golden bananas recovered, peace and prosperity return to DK Isle, and the Kongs celebrate their victory.
